Sandy was born in Columbia City, Indiana and grew up in Central Florida after her parents retired there. After graduating from Florida State University, she worked briefly for the Baptist Children’s Home in that area before moving to Louisville, Kentucky to begin seminary education at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Changes in the denomination and school discourage her further work there, and she left after two years. Sandy brings a valuable and varied work experience to her ministry. While in Louisville and later in South Alabama, she worked in the social work field for over 20 years. Sandy returned to school in 2004 to complete a Master of Divinity degree at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduation in 2007, she did supply preaching at various churches within the Presbytery of South Alabama before joining Evergreen Presbyterian Church in Dothan, Alabama as an Associate Pastor on January 1, 2008. In July 2013, Sandy began her ministry at First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort Kentucky as Pastor/Head of Staff and loved her time and ministry in the Bluegrass. After six years, Sandy began exploring options to be nearer to her sons in Florida, and she joyfully received the call to be Pastor/Head of Staff at Rockledge Presbyterian in October 2019. Over the years, Sandy’s passions for ministry have developed. They include worship leadership, teaching the faith, race relations, local mission projects, and interfaith dialogue. Sandy’s husband, Mike, is currently retired and has always been an active part of the mission and ministry of the church context in which she serves. They have two sons, Paul and Patrick, who are married and reside in the state of Florida. Mike and Sandy happily have a Border Collie dog, Cheyenne, who keeps the humans in line and the cat Maggie on her toes.

Karen Rhein, RPS Director

I’ve been in the field of early childhood education for almost 30 years, always working in faith-based centers. I’ve enjoyed teaching infants through VPK.  I think young children need to have the opportunity to learn and discover through hands-on activities. I enjoy the look on a child’s face when they figure out something for the first time. Children need time to interact with each other and build confidence that they can solve problems together. As early childhood educators, I think we need to foster the love of learning through hands on activities and the “I can do it” attitude!

Jim Bishop, Choir Director

A graduate of Rockledge High School, Jim holds a Master of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Northwestern University. After serving as Director of Bands at Rockledge High School, he was appointed to the faculty of Northwestern University as Assistant Professor of Music. Concurrent with his duties at Northwestern University, he served as Visiting Instructor at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan.  In 1987, Jim was appointed Associate Professor of Music at Eastern Florida State College. He was Director of Music at the First United Methodist Church of Cocoa from 1990-2014. Since 2014, Jim has served as Choir Director at Rockledge Presbyterian Church.

Liz Turner, Office Manager

Elizabeth C. Turner (Liz) was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up on Bethpage, Long Island. She attended parochial school for most of her life and enjoyed her childhood because of her family’s dedicated love and involvement in church ministry. She graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy at Eastern Florida State College in 2003, and for a short time served as a deputy at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and a reserve officer for the City of Cocoa Police Department. Her paths changed and she took a position as an armed security officer at Patrick Air Force Base for approximately four years. This led to a future position as a federal police officer in 2010, at both Patrick Air Force Base and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station for the 45th Security Forces Squadron. During that time, she also focused on her studies at Eastern Florida State College and received an Associate of Science degree in Paralegal Studies in May 2015. She continued her studies in the Human Resource Management bachelorette program and graduated with honors in May 2021.

Liz has three beautiful adult girls and is a doting Nana to her three adorable grandchildren (pictures can be viewed in her office). She is married to her husband Joseph who is an Army veteran, a wonderful stepfather to Liz’s girls, and an amazing Poppa. Liz’s daughter Shelby is currently serving in the United States Navy as a Seabee, Construction Mechanic Third Class Petty Officer and has recently returned from deployment in Sicily, Italy. Liz loves God, her family, and a good cup of coffee.
