Children's Programs

Children are heavily involved in the life of RPC. They attend and help lead Vacation Bible School in the summer, learn about God’s love throughout the year in Sunday school, greet people attending worship, serve as acolytes, and even help lead the music and worship. We’re happy to offer a wide range of programs and activities for kids of all ages.

Worship and Sunday School

RPC Nursery (Babies and Toddlers)

Young children are welcome at Rockledge Presbyterian Church. We have a secure nursery for children from one through three years old. The nursery is available before and during worship, from 9:00 a.m. until noon, and at times when the church schedules special events.

Elementary Sunday School

Elementary-age children (K through 5th Grade) will meet in Room 3, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. on Sundays.  The class, using Follow Me, a new curriculum, will help students learn practices they can use in life.  Leaders for this in-person class are Linda Rose and Sue Mann.

Junior and High School Sunday School

Junior High and High School youth (Grades 6th-12th) meet for Sunday School every Sunday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., in Room 5 or the East Courtyard. As their curriculum, they use Follow Me, specially designed for their age group. The Youth class is led by Robin Kramer and R.P. Higgins in person. Contact Robin Kramer at dkramer@cfl.rr.com for class information.

Children’s Church

Children beyond nursery age are welcome in the Sanctuary with their parents during worship. Often included in worship is a pastor’s message for the children four-years-old or older.  Children are invited to join the pastor down front for the brief lesson. Afterwards, they are invited to Children’s Church, where they’re taught the week’s message along with fun crafts and games.

For young children whose parents want them to stay in worship with them, the church provides activity bags that can be picked up in the Narthex before worship and returned afterwards. Time passes quickly for kids when they can color or occupy themselves with Bible-based activities.

Special Events

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a fun-filled program RPC offers during the summer months to connect with children and families in the community. Each summer, RPC offers a week-long program based on a particular theme that pre-school and elementary-age children can explore. Examples of typical themes might be medieval castles, water parks, the old West, or weird animals.

Confirmation Class

RPC invites youth in the 7th through 9th grade, or older youth who have not yet been confirmed, to participate in a confirmation class. The class is designed to give students an opportunity to deepen and confirm their faith in Jesus Christ, learn the basic theology of the Christian faith, and learn what it means to identify with the Presbyterian Church. At the conclusion of the confirmation class and the work required of them, they are confirmed by Session and later introduced to the congregation in a special Sunday worship service. Confirmation means that these young people are one step further in their spiritual journey and in building a lasting relationship with God and each other.

Camp Montgomery

Elementary and middle school youth attend Camp Montgomery each summer in Starke, Florida. Owned by the Presbytery of St. Augustine, Montgomery Center was established in 1957 on 167 wooded acres bearing three beautiful spring-fed lakes and serves the Presbyterian community as a camp, resort, and conference center. If interested, you will find more information at the Camp Montgomery Page. Kids usually count the days until they can go back each year! When they return from camp, they help to plan and organize a Youth Sunday worship service that is always amazing and inspiring.

Montreat Conference Center

Each summer, high school youth at RPC journey together to Montreat Conference Cetner in North Carolina for Montreat Youth Conference. They have a fun week of meeting other young people, engaging in programs that enable them to grow spiritually, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area and its many recreational opportunities. They return changed by their experience; closer to God and to one another. For more information about Montreat, read our page Montreat Youth Conference.
