Elected by the congregation and under the supervision of Session, 10 deacons make up the current Board at RPC. Deacons are elected to greet visitors and members at Sunday worship, to care for the families of the church, and to conduct its charitable ministry. A deacon is assigned responsibility for a specific number of families in the congregation, with whom he or she is to stay in touch by visits, calls, and/or cards. In the event of a death, deacons extend support even further by offering to prepare a light meal or light refreshments for family and friends in a reception held after the memorial service or funeral. For short term assistance, the deacons, working with the Central Brevard Sharing Center, have helped those in need by providing money for such things as utilities, rent, and groceries. How fortunate RPC is to have deacons whose commitment to serve others is so apparent in all that they do!
