Adult Classes
Small group studies are important to the life of Rockledge Presbyterian Church. These groups can include both men and women, young and old, married and single. They can also be specifically designed for men or women. The Faith Formation Committee offers both in-person studies at the church and some remote classes over Zoom.
Small groups have several purposes. They provide an opportunity for participants to connect with each other and experience life together. As we get to know each other and the unique story each of us has, then our joys and sorrows, struggles and successes become shared moments in our story together. We begin to build relationships and to care for one another—exactly what God wants us to do.
Sunday Morning Classes
Classes are available from 9:30-10:30 a.m. each Sunday. Curriculum consists of interesting short-term studies, usually supported by accompanying media. These will allow participants to be exposed to areas and subjects in the Bible not yet explored and also to be engaged in informal discussion and sharing designed to strengthen their relationship with God and each other. We currently offer two classes:
- To join the “Bible Boosters” class, contact Cheryl Carson at apcecheryl@gmail.com. The class will meet in the church Library.
- To join the “Unpacking the Scriptures” class, contact Pat Baggott at pabaggott@aol.com. During the twelve-week class, participants will be studying Max Lucado’s Life Lessons from Daniel and Esther.
Other Classes
- Seasons of the Spirit is a weekly hour-long focus on the lectionary scripture for the coming Sunday’s sermon. It offers small group discussion that examines the scripture from various versions of the Bible looking for personal meaning and appreciation of the pastor’s upcoming sermon. The class, led by Pastor Sandy, meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom. To join the group, contact Linda Williams at WILLJLCH@aol.com for the Zoom link.
- Advent and Lenten Small Group Studies are made available to the congregation for spiritual growth during these special seasons. Groups meet from 9:30-10:30 each Sunday morning.
- Presbyterian Women’s Circles have monthly lessons from the Horizons Bible Study, created and written by the national Presbyterian Women organization. Exploring a new topic or theme each year, Horizons nourishes our faith and encourages us to participate actively in meeting the challenges that currently faces us and other women here and abroad.
